Let's get started…
What Are The Best Modern Kitchen Cabinets For My Budget?
Your budget is something that you need to set ahead of time… And you MUST be honest with yourself… Otherwise you'll be wasting your time and the time of your contractor and/or designer…
When people tell me, “I don't know what my budget is” and then I say “Perfect, then are you ok with a $200k kitchen??” they tend to respond with what their budget ACTUALLY is…
Be honest with whoever you're working with… When I design & plan a kitchen, I put every single bell and whistle I can into them, but if it doesn't fit your budget, then you've wasted your time and mine… It's a lose lose situation for sure…
And while we're here, there's two budgets that you need to put together, especially if you're planning to remodel and older home…
- The Project Budget
- The Contingency Budget
The project budget is the cost of your kitchen if everything goes right. The contingency budget is for just in case something goes wrong.
And when I say wrong, I mean finding mold, termites, water damage, out of code electrical, out of code plumbing, etc, etc…
It's something that happens often in older homes… And if you cant afford at least $2-5k towards contingencies on your kitchen remodel, then wait until you can…
So, to the price of cabinets…
The average kitchen remodel price for our clients is anywhere from $30k-$50k… And cabinets average, for our clients, anywhere from $8k-$17k… the more expensive pricing is obviously due to a much larger kitchen… But you get the idea…
That pricing is also based upon a semi-custom cabinet…
If you're looking at custom cabinetry for your modern kitchen, you can expect to at least pay double, if not triple the price for the same look…
And then you have the high-end lines that offer the same look as a semi custom cabinet, but have decided to attach a German or Italian name to it, and position themselves in the market as a “luxury” brand… The crazy thing is that a lot of the “luxury lines” are made of MDF (particle board) but will charge anywhere from $80k to $200k for the cabinetry.
I know, it's crazy… But over the last 4 years I've been fortunate enough to be involved in well over 400 kitchen remodel projects and have learned that you don't need to spend $1million dollars to make your kitchen look like you did…
And just because our cabinets come in MUCH lower in price than some of the luxury cabinet lines, doesn't mean we sell “cheap modern kitchen cabinets”… Especially when it comes to the european style modern high gloss kitchen cabinets…

Budget Part 2: Don't Let Someones 10×10 Price For Cabinets Mislead You – Know Whats Included!
Modern Kitchen Cabinets can range DRAMATICALLY in price, even amongst the prefab & semi custom lines.
Some companies can cost upwards of $100k just for the cabinet portion of your kitchen… While other brands, like our in house line of modern cabinets, have a starting prices of $3,999 to $4,999 for a 10×10 kitchen… I've added a 3D drawing of what a 10×10 looks like and what we base our pricing on…
The 10×10 price is a baseline price, but most homeowners don't understand that its a VERY basic kitchen.
No matter who you decide to use for your modern cabinets, the 10×10 normally doesn't include any moldings, finish panels (ours do), not many pullouts/drawers, and will leave you with a shallow refrigerator cabinet that will leave you without having the “built-in” look for your refrigerator. Most of the cabinets will have shelves only, and you can forget about any lazy susans, spice racks, etc…
We've had people call us and say “I have a 10×10 kitchen, but the price you quoted doesn't match the 10×10 price advertised…”
Our response: “Well, it's because you ordered all of the extra paneling, moldings, and have drawers and pullouts in every single cabinet. Of course its not the same price…”
There's one multi-billion dollar company (their legal team has already come after me once, so I wont name any names) that is notorious for leaving homeowners thinking their cabinets are one price, but when it comes to getting what you really want, it's almost double the 10×10 price they advertise…
Just be understanding and know that what you REALLY want, more often than not, isn't covered in the basic 10×10 price…
Modern Cabinet Finish Options
One of the most popular finishes for modern kitchen cabinets is high gloss white… But if you're looking to add a little more color in your life, then not to worry, there's plenty to go around…
Most modern kitchen cabinets come in a variety of colors, from high gloss orange, green and blue, to wood veneer finishes like driftwood and bamboo…
Another popular option is to combine wood veneer with the high gloss thermafoil finish…
Another very cool combination is mixing the high gloss colors…
Or you could always go with a metallic look..
